Dr. Hu

Dr. Hu, 2021

Picture
In this video performance, Gladys plays the role of Dr. Hu, whose purpose in life is to fix everything that’s broken. She stops by whenever she comes across anything that seems wounded or damaged, including both living and non-living entities. As a ‘professional’, Dr. Hu utilizes the apparatus in her first aid kit to repair them with her original, experimental treatment methods.

Dr. Hu reflects on the egocentric nature of humans, pointing at how we tend to focus on our own problems and overlook the feelings and wellbeing of others. The video challenges the viewers pay attention to the vulnerability of the things around us, encouraging them to heal and care for others with a gentle heart.
